In 2019 the San Miguel Fire District initiated a volunteer program where selected individuals assist firefighters and district personnel with those functions specific to logistics and District support functions.
It is a strictly volunteer program and no volunteer is ever paid for their services.
The Logistics Volunteer Group performs functions that support operations personnel (firefighters) with supply chain management, transportation of equipment and personnel, and many other logistics functions such as emergency incident support. Some logistics functions may include picking up medical equipment at local hospitals, facilitating the movement of material and documents between the District’s facilities and fire stations, as well as the classic function of logistics, which is to support the firefighters at an incident with Firefighter Rehab functions.
Logistical Volunteer Group members will drive district vehicles, visit fire stations, represent the District when necessary, and answer questions of the public as a member of the Lakeside Fire Protection District. They will support daily activities, special events, assist with our fire prevention programs, and attend our open houses. Logistical volunteers are valued personnel and they are performing the needed tasks of the Operations Section and the command staff every single day.
It is important to note that this program is not an avenue for employment with the District.
